Hurricane Sandy

October 29, 2012 Hurricane Sandy came to stay
Nobody really knew what was coming their way
Living in a flood zone makes everything worse
I always feel like I'm under a curse
Monday-Wednesday we had no school
And that's because half of New Milford's a pool
I wish the high school had lights and power
Because it's not fun being home, doing nothing for hours

Looking at all the trees down
It's so sad because this is such a small town
There are power lines down everywhere
The whole tri-state area can use a prayer

Now that Sandy left the state
It's time to get our community straight
I hope nothing like this happens in a really long time
All we can do is pray in the meantime.

  1. I know how you feel about living in a flood zone because I live in one too :c I like how you wrote about something that is happening currently and it stinks how there is nothing to do if you don't have power.

  2. I knew someone was going to write about the hurricane lol. And we can all definitely relate because most of us don't have power... good poem though! :)

  4. I agree with the last two lines in the first stanza! At least we got to spend all day Wednesday bored together lol. But really it is horrible to see the damage Sandy left behind. Perfect poem illustrating the affect of this hurricane. Glad your house was not too damaged!
